While underway (as sailors should be) we work together as a well defined team, for our very survival on the wide open blue oceans is at risk if we don't. There are no days off, no weekends, no holidays, no room for recreation. When we get the chance we tell each other of our lives, our hopes and our dreams, for this is all there is to do at sea besides eat, sleep, and work. We become one with each other and the ship. We know each others every quark, every idiocy, each others weak points and each others strong points. We become so close we are inseparable even when on shore during port call.

There are no bonds closer or stronger then the bonds of camaraderie we developed with our shipmates at sea. No landlubber or sand crab can begin to understand how deep these bonds are. Then comes the day when we must each sail in different directions on different ships. Those shipmates may have gone beyond the horizon but we never forget each other and the time we spent together.
