The USS Essex Association is in honor of the sailors that have stood the watch, and those that are currently standing the watch, defending the American way and ensuring freedom of the shipping lanes. Let us not forget that while we enjoy freedom of speech, religion, and the pursuit of happiness these sailors stood the watch. While we enjoy our weekends and holidays with absolutely no fear of our country coming under attack, remember that it is because the men and woman of the armed forces are STANDING THE WATCH. We salute you all and are eternally grateful for your commitment and dedication to duty and country.
